Honours34× Belgian First Division, 2× UEFA Cup Winners' Cup

Belgium's most decorated and most successful football club. Anderlecht have dominated domestic football with 34 league titles and left their mark on Europe with two UEFA Cup Winners' Cup triumphs. Based in Brussels, Les Mauves are the standard-bearers of Belgian football and a club with a proud continental pedigree.

History

Founded in 1908 in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht, the club rose steadily through Belgian football to become the country's dominant force. Their golden era came in the 1970s and 1980s when, under coach Raymond Goethals and later Paul Van Himst, Anderlecht won back-to-back UEFA Cup Winners' Cups in 1976 and 1978, defeating West Ham United and Austria Wien respectively. They also reached the UEFA Cup final in 1984, losing narrowly to Tottenham Hotspur on penalties.

Anderlecht have supplied more players to the Belgian national team than any other club and have been a consistent presence in European competition across six decades. The club has produced and developed some of Belgium's greatest ever players, and their Lotto Park stadium in Brussels remains one of the most recognisable grounds in Belgian football. With 34 league titles, no club in Belgium comes close to their domestic record.

Kit History & Colours

Purple and white — the colours of Anderlecht are among the most distinctive in European football. The combination has been the club's signature for decades and gives them an identity that stands apart from the red, blue, and green that dominate most European kits. Les Mauves — The Purples — wear their colours with the confidence of a club that knows exactly who they are.

Adidas have been Anderlecht's kit manufacturer in recent years, producing clean, modern interpretations of the classic purple and white. The home shirt's bold use of purple makes it one of the most eye-catching in Belgian football, while away kits have typically featured white as the dominant colour. Every Anderlecht kit carries the weight of 34 league titles and a fanbase that has supported the club through every chapter of their remarkable history.

Paul Van Himst
Widely regarded as the greatest Belgian footballer of the 20th century, Paul Van Himst spent his entire playing career at Anderlecht, making over 500 appearances and winning eight league titles between 1960 and 1975. An elegant, intelligent forward with exceptional technical ability, Van Himst was the heartbeat of Anderlecht's most celebrated teams and later returned to manage the club, guiding them to further success. He remains the definitive Anderlecht legend — a player whose name is synonymous with the club's identity and its place at the summit of Belgian football.
