Benetton Rugby
Meet the Lions of Treviso. Benetton Rugby’s green and white colours belong to a club whose story stretches from Italian championship success to the United Rugby Championship. Their honours include the 2021 Rainbow Cup, won in front of their own supporters at Monigo.
History
The club began in 1932 as GUF Treviso, initially playing student rugby. Its first Italian championship followed in 1956. The Benetton era began in 1979, when the clothing company became the club’s official sponsor, later acquiring it.
In 2010, Treviso completed a domestic treble of Italian championship, Italian Cup and Italian Super Cup before moving into the Celtic League. Their debut on 4 September brought a 34–28 home win over the Scarlets. The competition subsequently became PRO12, then PRO14, and later the United Rugby Championship.
Benetton reached the PRO14 play-offs in 2019. In 2021, they defeated the Bulls 35–8 at Monigo to win the Rainbow Cup. Another milestone followed in 2023, when they reached the Challenge Cup semi-finals.
Kit Colours
Green and white are Benetton Rugby’s signature colours. The Italian description biancoverdi means “white and greens”, while Leoni means “Lions”. Both appear in the club’s own storytelling.
The colours remain central to the home kit: Erreà’s presentation of the 2025/26 home jersey specifically celebrates the Lions’ white-and-green identity. The exact design, shade and detailing of your shirt will depend on its season and edition.
