Cape Town City FC burst onto the South African football scene in 2016 and quickly established themselves as one of the DStv Premiership's most ambitious and entertaining sides. Playing in the Mother City, the Citizens have built a passionate fanbase and a reputation for attractive, attacking football.
History
Founded in 2016 following the purchase of Mpumalanga Black Aces by Cape Town businessman John Comitis, Cape Town City FC were established to bring top-flight football back to the Mother City. The club quickly made an impact in the DStv Premiership, finishing in the top half of the table in their debut season and attracting significant support from Cape Town's football community.
Cape Town City won the MTN8 cup competition in 2019, their first major honour, and have consistently been one of South African football's most competitive sides. The club is known for its progressive approach to football, its strong community ties, and its commitment to developing local talent from the Western Cape region.
