Cardiff Rugby

Cardiff RFC was founded in 1876 and quickly established itself as one of the most powerful clubs in Welsh and British rugby. The club played at Cardiff Arms Park — a ground synonymous with Welsh rugby — and produced a remarkable number of Welsh internationals across the amateur era. Cardiff were one of the few clubs to defeat the 1905 All Blacks on their famous tour of Britain, a result that remains one of the most celebrated in Welsh rugby history.

In the professional era Cardiff became Cardiff Blues and later Cardiff Rugby, competing in the Heineken Cup and European Challenge Cup with distinction. Their greatest modern achievement came in 2009–10 when they won the Heineken Cup, defeating Toulouse in the final at Murrayfield — the only Welsh region to win European rugby's premier club competition. Now competing in the United Rugby Championship, Cardiff continue to develop Welsh talent and represent the capital with pride at the iconic Arms Park.
