CLG Daingean Uí Chúis, widely known as Dingle GAA, represents the town of Dingle in County Kerry. Its red and white colours carry a football story stretching back to 1891, crowned by a historic first All-Ireland Senior Club title at Croke Park in January 2026.

Football in Dingle Since 1891

A team from Dingle affiliated with the Kerry County Board in 1891. Early sides included the Dingle Wreckers, Dingle Gascons and Dingle St Brendan’s, reflecting a long football tradition within the town.

The modern CLG Daingean Uí Chúis was formed in 1967 when the local Sráide Eoin and Na Piarsaigh teams united. Ned O’Loughlin became the first chairman and Michael Slattery captained the new combined team.

County Champions and Kerry Colours

Dingle won six Kerry Senior Football Championship titles between 1938 and 1948. As the reigning county champions, the club supplied its red and white colours to the Kerry team for the 1939 All-Ireland final, when Kerry defeated Meath.

The wait for another Kerry senior title lasted 77 years. Daingean Uí Chúis defeated Austin Stacks in the 2025 county final before winning its first Munster Senior Club Championship with a dramatic victory over St Finbarr’s of Cork.

Champions at Croke Park

On 18 January 2026, Daingean Uí Chúis faced Roscommon and Connacht champions St Brigid’s in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football final. The match required extra time and appeared destined for a penalty shootout.

Two late points from Tom O’Sullivan drew Dingle level before Mikey Geaney scored the winner. The final score was Daingean Uí Chúis 0–23, St Brigid’s 1–19, securing the Andy Merrigan Cup and the first All-Ireland senior club title in Dingle’s history.

Paul Geaney has represented both Dingle and Kerry at the highest level. The forward won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship with Kerry in 2014 and captained Daingean Uí Chúis during the club’s historic 2025/26 campaign, lifting the Andy Merrigan Cup after the All-Ireland final victory over St Brigid’s.

Red and White

Red and white are the traditional home colours of CLG Daingean Uí Chúis. The combination has deep significance because Kerry wore Dingle’s colours when winning the 1939 All-Ireland final.

The club’s green and blue change colours combine the identities of Sráide Eoin and Na Piarsaigh, the two teams that formed the modern club in 1967. This FanFile covers the club rather than one particular jersey, so patterns, sponsors and manufacturers may differ between editions.
