Club Deportivo Nopaleros
Club Deportivo Nopaleros are an amateur football team from Austin, Texas. Also listed in football directories as CD Nopaleros, the club compete within the Austin Men’s Soccer Association and have built a distinctive visual identity around green, red and white.
An Austin Amateur Football Club
CD Nopaleros are part of Austin’s organised adult football scene. The club appears in records for the Austin Men’s Soccer Association, a competition that gives amateur teams across the Texas capital a structured league environment.
Public information about the club’s founding date, honours and home venue is limited. Rather than attaching an unverified history to the name, this FanFile focuses on the details supported by available league-directory and kit records.
What Does Nopaleros Mean?
The club’s Spanish name gives it an unmistakably Mexican character. Nopal is the Spanish word commonly used for the prickly pear cactus, while nopaleros can refer to people who grow, harvest or work with nopales.
The nopal has deep cultural associations with Mexico and appears at the centre of the country’s national emblem. For an Austin-based team, the name creates a strong connection between local amateur football and Mexican heritage.
Green, Red and White
Club Deportivo Nopaleros’ documented 2023/24 home shirt was manufactured by Icarus and used green, red and white. Those colours reinforce the club’s Mexican-inspired identity while giving the jersey a bold appearance of its own.
The same season’s documented goalkeeper shirt used red and white. This FanFile covers the team rather than one particular jersey, so check the crest, manufacturer label and design details on your shirt when identifying its exact season or edition.
Not the Fictional Atlético Nopaleros
Club Deportivo Nopaleros should not be confused with Atlético Nopaleros, the fictional Mexican team featured in the 2008 film Rudo y Cursi. The Austin club is a real amateur side with its own identity and recorded kit history.
