History
Czech football has one of Europe's richest histories. As Czechoslovakia, they reached the World Cup final in 1934 and 1962, and won the European Championship in 1976 — with Antonín Panenka's iconic chipped penalty in the final against West Germany giving the world one of football's most celebrated moments and a technique that bears his name to this day.
As an independent nation since 1993, Czechia have continued to compete at the highest level. They reached the Euro 1996 final, losing to Germany, and have consistently qualified for major tournaments with squads featuring world-class players. Pavel Neděd, Petr Čech, Tomas Rosicky, and Milan Baroš are among the finest players to have represented the Czech Republic, and the nation continues to produce technically gifted talent for Europe's top clubs.
