FC Dynamo Kyiv

Founded in 1927, Dynamo Kyiv dominated Soviet football, winning 13 Soviet Top League titles and becoming the first Soviet club to win a European trophy — the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1975 under the legendary coach Valeriy Lobanovskyi. They retained the trophy in 1986, cementing their status as one of Europe's elite clubs. Lobanovskyi's innovative, scientific approach to football was decades ahead of its time and influenced coaches across the world.

Following Ukrainian independence in 1991, Dynamo became the dominant force in the new Ukrainian Premier League, winning the title 16 times. Their late 1990s side — featuring Shevchenko, Rebrov, and Luzhny — reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 1999, defeating Barcelona and Real Madrid along the way in one of the competition's most memorable campaigns. Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Dynamo have continued to compete, playing home matches outside Kyiv as a symbol of Ukrainian resilience.
