History
France's golden era began in 1998 when they hosted and won the World Cup, with Zinedine Zidane scoring twice in a 3–0 final victory over Brazil. Two years later they completed a remarkable double by winning Euro 2000, cementing their status as the world's best team of that era.
A second World Cup followed in 2018 in Russia, with a young, dynamic squad featuring Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann, and Paul Pogba defeating Croatia 4–2 in the final. France were runners-up at Qatar 2022, losing a dramatic final to Argentina on penalties. With Mbappé at his peak, Les Bleus remain one of the favourites for every major tournament.
