Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow Warriors were formed in 1996 as part of the Scottish Rugby Union's move into professional rugby, consolidating clubs from the west of Scotland into a single regional franchise. The early years were difficult as the club established its identity, but steady investment and development of Scottish talent gradually built a competitive squad. The appointment of Gregor Townsend as head coach in 2012 proved transformative — under his guidance Glasgow became one of the most exciting attacking teams in European rugby.

The 2014–15 season brought Glasgow's first major honour, winning the Pro12 title with a victory over Munster at Kingspan Stadium. After years of near-misses in European competition, the Warriors continued to develop under successive coaches and in 2023–24 claimed the United Rugby Championship title, defeating Munster in the final at Aviva Stadium. It confirmed Glasgow's status as one of the leading clubs in the northern hemisphere and a genuine force in world club rugby.
