History
LA Galaxy were one of the founding clubs of Major League Soccer in 1996 and immediately became the league's flagship franchise. Five MLS Cup titles make them the most decorated club in the competition's history. But more than the trophies, it's the players they've attracted that defined them — Cobi Jones, Landon Donovan, David Beckham, Robbie Keane, Zlatan Ibrahimović.
The Beckham era from 2007 to 2012 was a cultural moment beyond football — it put MLS on the front page of newspapers worldwide and made the LA Galaxy name globally recognisable. Zlatan's period brought goals and entertainment of a very different kind. The Galaxy are as much a cultural institution in Los Angeles as they are a football club.
Kit History & Colours
Gold and navy — immediately distinctive in a league full of red and blue. LA Galaxy's colour scheme is one of MLS's most recognisable combinations, and their kits have ranged from the clean and classic to the occasionally experimental over the years.
Adidas produce their current kits and the home gold shirt remains the centrepiece. Galaxy shirts from the Beckham and Zlatan eras are prime collector pieces — and the demand for them has never really gone away.
