Little Rock Gaelic Athletic Club brings Gaelic football and hurling to central Arkansas. The club gives men and women in the Little Rock area an opportunity to discover Ireland’s native games, learn new skills and represent their city within the USGAA Southeast Division.

Gaelic Games in Arkansas

Little Rock’s Gaelic games story has developed far beyond Ireland’s traditional playing heartlands. A recorded Gaelic football match involving a Little Rock side took place in Arkansas in 2008, while the modern Little Rock Gaelic Athletic Club continues that local tradition through organised football and hurling.

The club is open to experienced players and complete beginners. Like many growing USGAA clubs, its community includes people with Irish connections and Americans discovering Gaelic games for the first time.

Part of the Southeast Division

Little Rock GAC is listed by the United States Gaelic Athletic Association as a member of its Southeast Division. The division connects clubs across a wide geographical region and supports the development of Gaelic football, hurling and other Gaelic games.

Regional competition requires considerable travel, giving Little Rock opportunities to meet clubs from across the southern United States. The club has appeared at events including Nashville’s Music City Invitational hurling tournament.

One Club, Two Gaelic Codes

The letters GAC stand for Gaelic Athletic Club and often indicate that an organisation supports more than one Gaelic sport. In Little Rock’s case, those sports are Gaelic football and hurling.

Football is played with a round ball that can be kicked, carried and hand-passed, while hurling uses a wooden hurley and a small ball called a sliotar. Supporting both codes gives new members two distinct ways to experience Gaelic games.

A Welcome for New Players

Community clubs are central to the growth of Gaelic games in the United States. Little Rock GAC promotes the sports locally through open practices, training and competition, allowing newcomers to try the games without needing previous experience.

The club’s presence also gives Arkansas a place within a wider USGAA network that now stretches across dozens of American cities.

Green, White and Gold

Green, white and gold feature in Little Rock GAC’s jersey identity. The combination connects naturally with Gaelic sporting tradition while giving the Arkansas club a recognisable appearance of its own.

This FanFile covers Little Rock Gaelic Athletic Club rather than one particular jersey. Colours, sponsors, patterns and manufacturers can differ between home, away and special-edition designs, so check the crest and label on your own shirt for its specific details.
