History
Founded in 1892, Liverpool became England's dominant force under Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley in the 1960s, 70s and 80s — winning four European Cups between 1977 and 1984. The Hillsborough disaster of 1989, in which 97 Liverpool supporters lost their lives, remains the darkest chapter in the club's history and shaped the community's identity profoundly.
Under Jürgen Klopp from 2015 to 2024, Liverpool experienced a second golden era — winning the Champions League in 2019, the Premier League in 2020 and becoming the first English club to win all four major domestic trophies. Anfield, with its famous Kop end, is one of football's most atmospheric and iconic grounds.
Kit History & Colours
Liverpool's all-red home kit — introduced by Bill Shankly in 1964 — is one of the most recognisable in world football. Shankly believed the all-red strip made his players look bigger and more intimidating. The white away kit has also produced some of football's most iconic designs over the decades.
The Liverbird crest and the eternal flame representing the 97 victims of Hillsborough are central to the club's visual identity and emotional meaning.
