Neustrie GAA
Neustrie GAA brings players from clubs across north-western and central-western France together in one regional Gaelic football selection. The team announced itself internationally by winning its division at the 2023 GAA World Games and has since continued to represent the region in major European and world competitions.
A Regional Selection from France
Neustrie is not a single town or city club. It is a representative side connected with the regional Gaelic games structure covering Normandy, Hauts-de-France and Centre-Val de Loire, together with parts of western France including Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne, Sarthe and Vendée.
The selection gives players from across this wide area the opportunity to compete together beyond their local club programmes. Men’s and ladies’ teams have both carried the Neustrie name in international Gaelic football.
Champions in 2023
Neustrie’s men made a memorable World Games appearance in 2023, winning the International Division 3 football title. The success was an important milestone for a regional selection built from the growing Gaelic football community in France.
The team returned for the 2026 World Games in Waterford at a higher level, competing in International Men’s Football Division 2. Neustrie won four of its five group matches and progressed to the semi-finals, while Neustrie LGFA also represented the region in the ladies’ competition.
A Growing Presence
Neustrie has also competed on the European stage. At the 2025 Euro Gaelic Games in Vannes, the men reached the Division 2 final before finishing as runners-up to Brittany B.
Results such as these reflect the wider development of Gaelic games in France, where clubs and regional teams create pathways from local tournaments to European and global competition.
The Name Neustrie
Neustrie is the French form of Neustria, the name of a historic region associated with the western part of the Frankish kingdoms. For this Gaelic football selection, the name provides a distinctive identity shared across a broad part of northern and western France.
Because Neustrie is a regional team, a player’s local club crest may be different from the crest worn when representing the selection.
Black and Pink
Black and pink form the most recognisable Neustrie GAA colour combination. The team’s 2023 World Games jersey used the two colours in a bold design created for its international campaign.
This FanFile covers Neustrie GAA rather than one particular jersey. Designs, sponsors and manufacturers may change between competitions, so check the crest, label and product code on your shirt when identifying its exact edition.
