Oakland Soul
Oakland Soul are a purpose-driven women’s football club built around community, identity and opportunity. Based in Oakland, the club has quickly become an important part of the city’s sporting culture while helping grow the women’s game in the Bay Area.
History
Oakland Soul were announced in 2022 and began play in the USL W League in 2023. The club was created to provide an elite pathway for women’s football while staying true to Oakland’s culture, creativity and community-first spirit.
From the start, Oakland Soul positioned themselves as more than just a team. Their identity is closely tied to social impact, local pride and building a stronger future for women and girls in sport, which gives the club a distinctive place in the American football landscape.
Kit History & Colours
Oakland Soul are strongly associated with a bold black primary look, giving the club a modern and distinctive identity. Recent alternate kits have introduced brighter colours such as blue and pink, reflecting Oakland’s creativity and the club’s community-driven style.
Home kits have leaned into black as the core colour, while alternate shirts have explored more expressive palettes. That gives Oakland Soul a visual identity that feels fresh, confident and different from more generic women’s football branding.
