Pooler GAA brings hurling, camogie and Irish sporting culture to Pooler, Georgia. Established in 2021, the club has introduced Gaelic games to new players, represented its community in regional competition and become part of the growing USGAA network across the southeastern United States.

A New Gaelic Games Club in Georgia

Pooler GAA was established in late 2021 to bring Irish sports and culture to Pooler and its surrounding communities. The club began building its presence publicly in 2022, creating opportunities for local players to learn and play hurling and camogie.

The club is affiliated with the Southeast Division of the United States Gaelic Athletic Association. Its development forms part of a wider growth story for Gaelic games in Georgia, where clubs help introduce Irish sport to players from many different backgrounds.

Hurling and Camogie

USGAA lists Pooler as a hurling and camogie club. Both games are played with a hurley and sliotar, with teams aiming to score over the crossbar for one point or into the goal for three points.

Pooler’s emphasis on welcoming beginners is important to the club’s identity. Demonstrations, introductory sessions and community events give people who did not grow up with Gaelic games a way to learn the skills and culture surrounding them.

Growing the Games Beyond Ireland

In 2022, Pooler GAA hosted a three-day introduction to hurling camp that was highlighted by Play Hurling’s North American news coverage. It showed how education and hands-on participation have been central to the club’s early years.

The club has also taken part in events around the greater Savannah area. In 2025, Pooler faced Charleston at the inaugural Savannah Scottish Festival Hurling Cup after players from Pooler, Charleston and Savannah had joined mixed friendly teams earlier in the day.

Black and Gold

Black and gold define Pooler GAA’s home-shirt identity. The dark base gives the crest and gold detailing a strong contrast, creating a modern look for one of Georgia’s newer Gaelic games clubs.

This FanFile covers Pooler GAA as a club rather than identifying one particular jersey. Designs, sponsors and detailing can change, so check the crest, manufacturer label and care instructions on your own shirt for information about its edition.
