History
Founded in 1907 in Seville, Real Betis have one of Spanish football's most passionate and loyal fanbases. They won La Liga in 1935 — their only league title — and have spent much of their history as a top-flight club, competing in the shadow of city rivals Sevilla FC in one of football's most intense local derbies, El Gran Derbi.
Under coach Manuel Pellegrini, Betis have enjoyed one of their finest modern eras — winning the Copa del Rey in 2022 with a penalty shootout victory over Valencia, qualifying for European competition, and playing some of the most attractive football in La Liga. The Estadio Benito Villamarín, with its passionate Bético faithful, is one of the great football atmospheres in Spain.
