Real Valladolid made global headlines when Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazário purchased a majority stake in the club in 2018, a stake he sold in 2025. Based in the historic city of Valladolid in Castile and León, they are a club with deep regional pride and an intriguing future.
History
Founded in 1928, Real Valladolid have spent periods in La Liga throughout their history and are known as a well-run, community-focused club. Their most famous moment in recent times came off the pitch when Ronaldo — the Brazilian original — bought a controlling stake in 2018, raising the club's global profile enormously. He sold that stake in May 2025 to the investor group Grupo Ignite, whose Gabriel Solares is now club president.
The Estadio José Zorrilla is one of Spain's more atmospheric mid-sized grounds, and the club enjoys strong support from the city of Valladolid and the wider Castile region.
Kit History & Colours
Valladolid wear distinctive violet and white — an unusual and striking colour combination in Spanish football. The violet shirt has become deeply associated with the club's identity and sets them apart from the sea of red and blue that dominates La Liga.
