One of the largest clubs in Galway city, SK have built a proud tradition across football and hurling and are a cornerstone of the GAA community on the west coast of Ireland.

History

Salthill-Knocknacarra GAA were formed in 1994 through the merger of Salthill GAA and Knocknacarra GAA, two clubs serving the rapidly growing western suburbs of Galway city. The merger created one of the largest and most ambitious GAA clubs in Connacht, with a broad membership base drawn from the coastal communities of Salthill and the expanding residential areas of Knocknacarra.

The club competes in the Galway Senior Football Championship and has been a consistent presence at the top level of club football in the county. Based in Salthill — one of Ireland's most beloved seaside destinations, famous for its promenade, Blackrock diving board, and the stunning views across Galway Bay to the Burren — SK GAA carry the identity of one of Ireland's most characterful communities on and off the pitch.

Colours & Identity

Black and red — the SK colours worn with Galway Bay pride. Salthill-Knocknacarra's distinctive black and red kit sets them apart in the Galway championship and is worn with the pride of a club that represents one of Ireland's most iconic coastal communities. Bold, striking, and unmistakably SK.

Community & Culture
Galway Bay & GAA Pride
To play GAA in Galway is to be part of one of Ireland's most passionate sporting communities. Galway have won nine All-Ireland football titles and are one of the game's great counties, and clubs like Salthill-Knocknacarra are the foundation on which that tradition is built. Playing in the shadow of Galway Bay, with the Aran Islands on the horizon and the sound of the Atlantic in the air, SK GAA represent a community that is as proud of its GAA club as it is of its famous promenade. The west is awake — and SK are part of that story.
