Real Sporting de Gijón

Founded in 1905 in the Asturian port city of Gijón, Sporting have spent significant periods in La Liga and were a consistent top-flight presence in the 1970s and 1980s. They finished second in La Liga in 1979, reached the Copa del Rey final in 1981 and 1982, and produced several Spanish internationals during their golden era, including the legendary Quini.

El Molinón, their historic stadium, is one of the oldest in Spain and creates one of the most atmospheric matchday experiences in Spanish football. Sporting's passionate Asturian fanbase has remained loyal through the club's years in the second division, and the club continues to develop young talent through their respected academy.
