US Salernitana 1919 represent the port city of Salerno in southern Italy. Known as I Granata for their distinctive garnet shirts, the club has travelled repeatedly between Italy’s divisions, with memorable Serie A campaigns and an intense connection to the supporters at Stadio Arechi.
Salernitana was originally founded in 1919. The club’s history includes several reorganisations and refoundings, but its identity has remained rooted in Salerno, its garnet colours and the passion of its support.
The team has spent much of its history in Serie B and Serie C while also earning places in Italy’s top flight. Salernitana first reached Serie A after winning its section of Serie B in 1946/47 and returned as outright Serie B champions in 1997/98.
Salernitana has played at Stadio Arechi since 1990. The stadium replaced the older Stadio Donato Vestuti and takes its name from Arechi II, the Lombard prince associated with the history of Salerno.
Its rectangular design places the stands close to the pitch, while the Curva Sud is especially associated with Salernitana’s organised support. On matchdays, flags, banners and garnet shirts give the Arechi a strong visual identity.
Salernitana finished second in Serie B in 2020/21 to secure a return to Serie A after 23 seasons away. The following campaign produced a remarkable escape from relegation as a late run of results kept the club in the top flight.
The Granata remained in Serie A for three consecutive seasons before relegation in 2024. A further relegation followed in 2025, taking the club into Serie C, where Salernitana reached the promotion play-offs during the 2025/26 campaign.
Salernitana’s defining colour is granata—a deep garnet or maroon shade that gives the team its best-known nickname. White is frequently used for trim and away shirts, while sky blue recalls colours worn during the club’s earliest years.
Salernitana jerseys vary by season in shade, pattern, sponsor and crest treatment. This FanFile covers the club rather than one particular shirt, so check the manufacturer label and product code on your jersey to identify its exact edition.
