Utah Warriors helped establish professional rugby union in the American West. A founding member of Major League Rugby, the Herriman-based team competed from the league’s first season in 2018 through 2025, building an identity around Utah, community and a striking red, black and white kit palette.
The professional Utah Warriors organisation was established in 2017 ahead of Major League Rugby’s inaugural campaign. The Warriors were one of the seven teams that contested the competition’s first season in 2018, helping launch a new era for professional rugby union in the United States.
The club represented Utah from its base in Herriman, south of Salt Lake City. Its home matches became known for an energetic match-day atmosphere and a strong connection with the state’s established schools, clubs and wider rugby community.
The Warriors played at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman. The purpose-built venue, also used by football club Real Monarchs, placed supporters close to the field and provided the backdrop to Utah’s home fixtures and playoff rugby.
The location also reflected the Warriors’ place within the broader sporting culture of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area while giving the club a distinct home in the Utah community.
Utah produced the strongest regular season in club history in 2025, finishing first in Major League Rugby’s Western Conference. The Warriors reached the Western Conference final before their campaign ended with a 33–19 defeat against the Houston SaberCats.
Although the team did not reach the MLR Championship Final, the first-place conference finish gave the club a memorable final competitive chapter.
On 4 November 2025, Utah Warriors announced that the club would not participate in the 2026 Major League Rugby season and that operations had been suspended. The decision followed efforts to secure the investment required to continue.
This FanFile therefore records the Warriors as a former MLR team. It avoids suggesting that the club currently has fixtures or competes in the league, while preserving the story attached to Utah Warriors jerseys from their eight seasons of professional rugby.
Red, black and white defined the Utah Warriors’ visual identity. The club crest combined the Warriors name with a bold shield design, while jerseys across different seasons used changing combinations of those core colours.
This is a team FanFile rather than identification of one particular jersey. Manufacturers, sponsors, patterns and detailing varied during the club’s MLR years, so check the crest, product label and design features on your shirt when researching its season.
