History
Founded in 1864, Wrexham AFC is the oldest association football club in Wales and one of the oldest in the world. For decades they were a steady force in English football's lower leagues, with a devoted local fanbase and a ground — the Racecourse — that holds genuine historical significance.
The real turning point came in 2020 when Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club through a fan-approved community vote. What followed was the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series, a wave of global support, and three back-to-back promotions from the National League to the EFL Championship. It's one of the great modern football stories.
