Which GAA County Was Avoided Most? Our September 2026 Order Data

Mystique Jerseys Data Study • 1–25 September 2026

Dublin is the most frequently avoided GAA county in Mystique Jerseys’ September order data so far. It appeared in the “Teams To Avoid” field of 18 qualifying Mystery GAA jersey orders, five more than Cork in second place and twice as many as Kerry in third.

We reviewed all 603 Mystique Jerseys orders placed between 1 and 25 September 2026. From those, we identified 73 orders containing a GAA product and a non-empty “Teams To Avoid” response.

September study at a glance

  • 603 total Mystique Jerseys orders reviewed
  • 73 GAA orders with a populated “Teams To Avoid” field
  • 123 specific county mentions recorded
  • Dublin led with 18 exclusions
  • Five orders separated Dublin and Cork

This is anonymised Mystique Jerseys order data, not a survey of GAA supporters generally. An exclusion does not automatically mean that a customer dislikes a county. They may support a rival, already own that county’s jersey or simply want something different from their next Mystery GAA Jersey Box.

Customers could enter several counties in one order, so the percentages are not intended to total 100%. A county was counted no more than once per order.

Dublin Leads Cork by Five Orders

The clearest result is Dublin’s position at the top. The county was specifically excluded in 18 qualifying orders, compared with Cork’s 13 and Kerry’s nine.

That does not tell us why each customer entered Dublin. The data records the instruction supplied while ordering; it does not record whether the reason was rivalry, an existing collection, personal preference or something else.

9Kerry exclusions

Tipperary and Galway Share Fourth Place

Tipperary and Galway were each named in eight orders, placing them jointly fourth. Tyrone followed with seven, while Limerick and Mayo were tied on six.

Monaghan, Antrim and Armagh each appeared five times. Those results show that the ranking is not simply a list dominated by the biggest counties or by one province.

Laois, Sligo and Wicklow did not receive a specific named-county exclusion during the period analysed. Broad regional or all-county instructions were not expanded and assigned to counties individually.

Why Some GAA Requests Were Kept Separate

Not every customer named a specific county team. Some entered broader instructions, named individual clubs or asked us to avoid teams from an entire region. We kept those requests separate rather than guessing what the customer meant or artificially increasing a county’s total.

Broad regional and all-county exclusions

Examples included “Ulster teams”, “Ulster clubs and counties”, “Munster GAA teams”, “All Irish counties” and “No Irish club or county jerseys”. None of these entries was converted into exclusions for every county in the relevant area.

County-wide club instructions

Requests such as “Clubs in Kerry”, “Any Clare club team”, “Tyrone clubs” and “Every Monaghan club except Blackhill Emeralds” relate to clubs within a county rather than necessarily excluding that county’s inter-county jersey. They were therefore excluded from the county ranking.

“Kilkenny teams” and “Longford teams” were also treated cautiously. Counting each as a county exclusion would move Kilkenny and Longford from two orders to three, but the wording was not specific enough to justify altering the main table.

Named GAA clubs

Individual club exclusions included Bantry Blues, Errigal Ciaran, Glen Rovers, St Eunan’s, Blackrock, Kilmacud Crokes, Ballyboden, St Vincent’s, Fossa, Viking Gaels, Baltinglass, Kilbride and An Port Mór.

These were not added to the relevant county totals. Avoiding one club does not necessarily mean that the customer wants to avoid every club or county jersey associated with the same area.

Overseas GAA teams

New York was excluded in two orders. One additional order asked to avoid all Australian teams. These requests were recorded separately from the 32-county ranking.

Does “Most Avoided” Mean “Most Hated”?

No. The “Teams To Avoid” field records what a customer does not want to receive in one particular mystery order. It does not ask the customer why.

A supporter might exclude a traditional rival, but they might also avoid their own county because they already own several of its jerseys. Gift buyers may list teams based on information supplied by the recipient, while collectors may simply want a jersey from somewhere new.

The correct conclusion is that Dublin was the county most frequently entered as an exclusion in qualifying Mystique Jerseys Mystery GAA orders between 1 and 25 September 2026. The results should not be presented as a national popularity poll.

We used the same distinction in our studies of the most avoided football teams and the most avoided rugby teams.

Methodology: How We Calculated the GAA Rankings

  1. Study period: Orders placed from 1 to 25 September 2026.
  2. Total orders reviewed: All 603 Mystique Jerseys orders placed during the study period.
  3. Qualifying responses: 73 orders contained a GAA product and a non-empty “Teams To Avoid” field.
  4. County ranking: Only a specific, identifiable county reference was counted in the main table.
  5. Deduplication: A county was counted no more than once per order, even when it was repeated across several jerseys or within the same response.
  6. Multiple exclusions: One order could contribute to several county totals when the customer named several counties.
  7. Standardisation: Obvious spelling variations and equivalent county references were grouped together.
  8. Broad requests: Instructions covering a province, country, region or all counties were kept separate and were not expanded into individual county exclusions.
  9. Club requests: Named clubs and general requests to avoid clubs within a county were not added to that county’s inter-county total.
  10. Overseas teams: New York and broad Australian-team exclusions were recorded separately from the 32-county ranking.

Important: Customers could list several teams in one response. The percentages therefore show how often each county appeared across the 73 populated GAA exclusion orders and are not intended to total 100%.

What Is a Mystery GAA Jersey Box?

A Mystery GAA Jersey Box contains an authentic Gaelic games jersey selected without revealing the county, club or design before delivery. Customers choose the product and size, then use the available exclusion field to identify eligible teams they would prefer not to receive.

The exact county, club, colour, manufacturer, season or design remains part of the mystery and cannot be requested or guaranteed unless a product explicitly says otherwise. You can read more in our guide explaining how Mystique Jerseys mystery boxes work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which GAA county was avoided most?

Dublin was the most frequently avoided county in Mystique Jerseys’ order data from 1 to 25 September 2026. It appeared in 18 of the 73 GAA orders containing a populated “Teams To Avoid” field.

Which counties finished second and third?

Cork ranked second with 13 exclusions, followed by Kerry with nine. Tipperary and Galway shared fourth place with eight each.

How many orders were included in the study?

We reviewed all 603 Mystique Jerseys orders placed during the study period. From those, 73 orders contained a GAA product and a populated “Teams To Avoid” field.

Why do customers avoid particular GAA counties?

The order data does not provide one universal reason. Customers may avoid rivals, jerseys they already own, teams the gift recipient would not wear or counties they receive frequently. Some simply want a more unusual mystery result.

Can I choose the county I receive?

No. The county, club or team remains part of the mystery. Customers can provide eligible teams they would prefer us to avoid, but a particular county, club, colour, manufacturer, season or jersey design cannot be requested or guaranteed.
